Farsali’s Rose Gold Elixir has been blowing Instagram Feeds since its launch back in July 2015.

Bearing a name that is an acronym of its husband & wife creators – Sal Ali and “You Tube Beauty Blogger” Farah Dhukai, Rose Gold Elixir is a moisturising facial oil formulated with vitamins and flecks of 24 -karat gold ….yes, real gold.

Well, I’m not one to be carried away with hype without evidence, especially hype that retails at £50 for 30ml.

As with most Beauty Oils, Rose Gold Elixir is multi-functional. Suitable for all complexions, when used as a lightweight moisturiser under foundation it is very effective; the skin feels instantly hydrated and it adds a dewy glow without greasiness. It seems to lightly plump the skin, helping to conceal fine lines.
Try dotting your foundation onto your skin first, then apply 1-2 drops on to a damp beauty sponge or brush to blend. Do remember though, it is an oil, so less is definitely more. This is probably the mistake made by those complaining of excessive oiliness. The dropper makes it easy to release just a tiny amount and a couple of droplets is plenty. Don’t forget to give the bottle a good shake first to ensure that the contents are fully blended.

I found the scent subtle, citrusy and pleasant, although some reviews have not been so favourable. One of the base ingredients is Rosehip Seed Oil and it’s definitely evident without being over powering. For any of you who have tried Farsali’s more recently launched overnight oil Volcanic Elixir, with its overpowering earthly pungent scent; the two fragrances are not comparable in any way

One of my favourite uses for Rose Gold Elixir is for lip hydration; it’s brilliant. If you’re applying a matte or liquid lipstick, apply a drop to the lips first and it really helps keep them feeling moist without affecting the finish. Remember to let the oil fully absorb first.

If you suffer from chronically dry lips, try some of this overnight for maximum hydration.
