Don’t Forget the Setting Spray!

An essential in any Makeup Artist’s kit but a product frequently forgotten is setting spray. Setting your makeup will make a huge difference, keeping your look fresh and hydrated for longer.

Warm copper eyes, glowing skin and a
nude lip, using mainly Charlotte Tilbury
products and finished with Urban Decay
All Nighter setting spray

Similar to a hairspray for the face,
a setting spray will help keep your
foundation flawless, brows in place,
eyeshadow colours true and reduce
smudging and fading. With a range
of formulas to suit all skin types and
different finishes from mattifying to
a dewy glow, there’s a product to
complement every look.
After perfecting your makeup, setting
spray is the essential finishing touch to
help lock your look in place and ensure
that it lasts all day.
Application
After applying your makeup, hold the
setting spray bottle around 20cm from
your face and spritz the mist lightly, 2
to 4 times. Follow a “T & X” shape to
ensure full coverage of the forehead,
nose and chin and then the rest of the
face. Remember to close your eyes!
Pro Tip
Add extra intensity to your eyeshadow
and increase longevity, by dampening
your eyeshadow brush with setting
spray prior to application.

Choosing the right one

There is an array of different setting sprays to choose from, depending on your own specific complexion needs and budget. Here are a few of my own personal favourites. For superior staying power, my top
spot goes to:

Urban Decay – All Nighter (118ml) – £26. Charlotte Tilbury –Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray (100ml) – £26, is another strong contender and has great customer reviews.

For a High Street alternative try e.l.f. Matte Magic Mist & Set at just £5 for 60ml from Superdrug or
KIKO Milano Face Make Up Fixer at £7.99 for £75ml.
